Sample Store - Beauty Show (ft. Beauty Keeper)

Remember the beauty show I mentioned in my previous post? Here's a short overview of what went on for those who didn't manage to make it. I will also feature some of the products, benefits and tips that I learnt from the show!
Before the show started, we had a chance to try out a simple meat platter from Carnivore Brazilian Churrascaria, which consisted of a mixture of greens and various types of meat. It was tasty dish with succulent meat, fresh greens and pineapple. I almost grabbed a second helping for this!

The Beauty Show was organised by Sample Store featuring numerous brands under Beauty Keeper and hosted by Hossan Leong. He was a great host who can sing pretty well too; he started off the show with a short chorus and I initially thought that one of the Sing! China contestants was about to start the show.
Managed to get a shot that seems like he's looking straight into my camera?
He was entertaining and kept the audience engaged while the preparations or short intermissions were happening in the background. We were first introduced to the finalists of Sing! China and 3 of them were selected to be models for the demonstration of Beauty Keeper products.
I was so focused on the products that were being used and the tips given by Candy Tiong that I missed out on several opportunities for pictures! Nevertheless, I would share some of the tips that I found useful too, the first image used is found through Google so credit to the owner for sharing this!

Products are listed in the order to be applied / used on face so it will be easier for you all :)

Before cleansing our face, Candy showed use simple steps which we can use for facial massage to help with circulation and reduce the puffiness in the morning. I found a useful image which demonstrated the steps we were taught that day. She reminded us that it is important to start from inside and slowly work the way out in circular motions so as to remove any toxins.
MD/AA Jiao Pulsed Mask Foaming Face Cleanser was first used to cleanse the skin. This works like one of the famous Korean bubble cleansers where it will start forming after a small period of time. The face will soon be covered with foam that will not only clean your pores but also replenish and hydrate your skin.
An alternative product for cleansing will be Destino Advanced Repairing Face Soap. Unlike the previous cleanser, the foam can be created on your own and this foams up even more. This is one of the tai tai's (rich lady's) favourite product as it leaves skin feeling smooth, soft and delicate. Candy actually did a demo on 3 people's hand (2 of which are men) and they all felt as soft as a lady's hand!
After cleansing, it is important to lock in the moisture or further boost it with masks or creams. Candy used Userism Bright Whitening Ultra Water Facial Mask to illustrate her point. Before using the mask, it is recommended to add at least a drop of essence to increase the efficacy of the mask. Each tube of essence can actually last for 7- 10 days of usage. The mask can't be reused but the remaining essence, after you've extracted the mask, can be capped and kept in the fridge and then used for the next 7- 10 days after cleansing. I find this design to be pretty smart and the tubes can also be kept and reused for other essences/masks!
For those who have concerns with oily t zones and enlarged pores, MD/AA Jiao Oil-Water Dual Balancing Gel will come in handy. This is to be used after moisturiser and has oil-control and pore-control properties to keep those insecurities at bay!
Once the skin is all prepped and hydrated, we can follow up with sun protection to prevent harmful UV rays from attacking the skin. Userim DD Cream does that and more. Candy recommended us to use a brush when applying this or any foundation so the finish will be more natural and well blended. This daily defence (DD) cream not only protects your skin from harmful rays, it isolates your skin from dust and has anti-aging properties, so it is more like a skincare product rather than a makeup product.
In addition to that natural glow to your skin, it is also essential to hydrate your lips. Here's Beauty Keeper's best selling product: Serlando Rosy Pink Moisture Dew. The initial application may look like a clear liquid but this actually changes colour according to your body's temperature so everyone's colour will differ slightly. Plus it can be applied in more than one place. Curious? Click on the link above to find out :)
Last but not least, to take your makeup look from day to night, you can look to Starsuki's products that range from powder, brows, lipsticks to brushes.

That's some of the highlights and products that I'm looking forward to trying! The beauty show was really interesting and I took home not only products and some useful tips that I have shared earlier, hope my post will aid in your decision on what products to try from Beauty Keeper!

Thanks to the Beauty Keeper and this awesome team from Sample Store for putting this all together! Hope to see more of such events in the future too!

Review: Owndays PC (Blue Shield) Lenses

A few months ago, I posted a guide & review on Owndays Singapore and mentioned that I would like to get PC lenses with them as well as do a pair of eye glasses in Korea/Japan and I did both! Now I have 3 pairs of spectacles which is alittle too much. Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about not being able to see if I were to lose one pair of spectacles!  Today I'll be reviewing on their PC aka blue shield lenses. They seemed to be emphasizing more on this type of lens lately and I didn't find a review on this so I decided to be the first to start. Owndays PC lenses come with a slight tinted brown colour and blue coating. The purpose of these lenses is to cut down a certain amount of blue light that is being emitted from electronic devices such as computer, mobile phones, TV, etc.  (Picture credited to Owndays Singapore)
You might be wondering, what is blue light and why do we emphasis so much on it now? Blue light is a type of light that is blue in colour(like duh.…

Review & Guide: Owndays Singapore

If you've been to Korea or Japan, you might have heard of getting a pair of spectacles done within the same day or even within minutes! Based on reviews I found online and through friends, it can cost less than $100 for a pair and I have been tempted to get mine done there ever since.

Earlier last year, Owndays decided to expand and opened its first shop in Singapore. To many, it was a relatively new concept to get spectacles within the same day but to me, it's like finally, I have a chance to experience it without having to travel!

A basic introduction to those who are not familiar with the store. Owndays is a brand from Japan that offers all-in-one price (frame + 1.6 high index aspheric lenses) at $98-$198. With 1,500 styles to choose from and processing time of 20 minutes, you can not only find a pair of spectacles to correct your vision but also change them according to different occasions.

I love their open concept. Unlike most optical…

Guide to KORAIL's O Train & V Train

Sightseeing trains are gaining popularity in Korea and it is one of the things you have to try when you're there! Today I'll be sharing on O Train & V Train which started its operations sightly more than a year ago on April 2013. These trains journey through Korea's inland valleys with the O-train looping around the central inland region, running through the provinces of Chungcheongbuk-do, Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do. While the V-train, connecting Buncheon in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Cheolam in Gangwon-do Province, runs through scenic valleys. Detailed information on these trains can be found on VisitKorea.

I realized there is a lack of information on the site as to how you can purchase the tickets online or offline and how to best plan the route if you would like to take both trains plus return to Seoul on the same day. So here's a simple post on how I purchased my tickets on the spot and the mistake I made(and you can avoid if you read this post), but …
